About the project

The Western and Northern Territories Network Research Scholarship is a scholarship program offering short-term (1-3 months) study visits for young researchers from outside Poland, whose scientific activity is focused on the subject of the Network’s research programme. The implementation of scientific projects within the framework of scholarship stays provides for the possibility of using sources and literature available in Polish archives and libraries. Thanks to the results of the scholarship holders’ research in the form of scientific articles, which, after review, become part of the subsequent issues of Rocznik Ziem Zachodnich (Western Territories Annual) periodical, both the ever-increasing number of achievements of young researchers and the knowledge of Polish archive and library resources, or the topic of Western and Northern Territories themselves is able to appear in wider, international scientific discourse.

During the scholarship stay, the laureates reside at the Network institutions of their choice, which provide the research infrastructure and substantive support necessary for the implementation of the project.

Each stay begins with a special seminar, during which the main assumptions of the research project are presented. An analogous meeting summarising the results of the scholarship ends their visit.

Detailed conditions for the award and performance of the scholarship were established within the  Scholarship Rules and Conditions.
